Over the course of 15 years, Matrix has grown from five employees to 32 and increased sales twelve-fold. The Microsoft solution has grown with the company, accommodating a 25% annual growth rate.
The Story
Matrix needed a scalable solution to provide better inventory control and flexibility in managing its growth, as well as ever-changing business requirements.
At the time, we were using Peachtree. We realized we were starting to outgrow the system. To run our business, we needed functionality that the system just didn't provide," explained Marc Willden, Matrix Packaging Machinery CEO.
Microsoft Dynamics’s flexibility and scalability has allowed Matrix management to implement the solution in phases. Since then, Matrix has purchased and implemented various software modules and technologies as needed.
Moreover, implementation has been a team effort. "I love the fact that we can be very self-sufficient. However, we aren't 'technology superheroes,' so we do look to SVA Consulting to help us through the tough spots," expressed Willden.
The solution has improved Matrix's inventory control and has helped the organization run leaner. "We have much greater control over our inventory. We now know what is happening in real-time. Real-time access to information is crucial for any business—especially a manufacturing business," said Willden.
With key features, Matrix now has better documentation of the 120 packaging systems it produces each year have been a major factor in getting and keeping accurate inventory numbers. As a result, the expense and effort of physical inventories was eliminated.
“Our products are some of the most competitive in the market. Our solution allows us to do much more with far fewer employees than any of our competitors. It is definitely one of our competitive advantages,” continued Willden.
